Hey Everyone.
So let me just start out by saying that I'm loving our Maori culture class - it's very interactive and we sing songs, prayers and games all in Maori. It's a lot of fun.
Valentine's Day we had a field trip to Mt. Eden and the Waitakerie Ranges. Which was really beautiful to see but all of us were freezing because it was so windy. Very intense. When we got back, Jordan was here and we spent part of the evening with him. He brought us cheetos and red vines - you guys have no idea how excited we were about getting these. He also brought valentines from friends and family, which was really sweet (thanks guys!). I went with Alec on V-Day to see the Hobbit - which I found to be a really good movie.
The next morning we got up at five am to catch a bus to the Bay of Islands. It was a four hour bus ride to Paihia and we were all a little crappy when we got there. But it was warm and we had a good time wandering around on the beach and through the little town. On Saturday we rented kayaks for $50 for the whole day. We paddled through a mangrove forest, which was a really cool experience and something that I will never forget. We had lunch sitting in our kayaks in between the mangroves. SO COOL. After that we paddled around the islands, before picking a nice little sandy beach. Where we all promptly fell asleep. It was really fun but really tiring - I am still so sore. It burns when ever I move - go ahead and call me a wimp. Sunday morning we had breakfast and then bused back to Mt. Albert - Katherine and I were so happy to be back with Cassie. Of all the roommates, we three seem to get along the best. We love each other so much. :) Jeffery, sadly, has disappeared and I'm pretty sure that he's not going to be coming back. (Katherine is in denial).
Today we had a field trip to the Auckland Art Gallery which was pretty cool and I enjoyed a lot of the modern and gothic art.
Tomorrow we have an all day hiking field trip - I'm not sure I'm going to survive.
Love you all.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day.
Time really does fly, you only have 2 weeks and 5 days left to go ....can you tell we've been counting?
