Hello
everyone! Today is Monday, once again we have class :P Unfortunately most of us
on our floor are suffering from a sore throat. Which may have been caused by
continuous late nights and early mornings.
Friday we
had class and then a free afternoon, we were supposed to go on a Golden Mile
Walk but it ended up being canceled due to the fact that walk pamphlet is no
longer produced. Kind of odd, but I guess we wouldn’t have directions or
anything without the pamphlet. Anyway, a group of us went down to the friendly
backpacker to book our travel week. My total came to a lovely $944. My anxiety
hit a new level during the two hours that we were there.
We bought
some Krispy Kreme and gave one to the guy (Travel Josh) because he was so nice
and helpful. And because Kripsy Kreme is right around the corner :)
After that
we went to a tattoo parlor Hannah got her nose done and I got my double on my
right ear done. I’ll post the pictures. Maybe I’m a baby but mine hurt like
hell.
That night
we went out and had a few drinks, met some nice Aussies and New Zealanders. It
was fun; pretty sure this is why I have a sore throat though. I was very tired
the next day.
On Saturday
we went and got “hangover breakfast” (no, I did not have a hangover, neither
did Ella or Maddy), which consisted of eggs benedict :) so deliciously. At
1:00pm we caught a bus to Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade. We made a few
stops along the way, one at a koala sanctuary, which was really cool to see. At
the sanctuary there was a tiny baby koala climbing around, it was really hard
to get his picture but I tried and I’ll post what I can. We also stopped at a
farm where we got to feed a wombat named Stuart and some kangaroos! Which was
so exciting and fun! The kangaroos were so cute :)
I slept for
a long time on the bus but we reached Phillip Island around seven ish. Unfortunately
pictures are forbidden at the parade so I don’t have any pictures of the
penguins, but they were amazing to see. We sat directly on the beach and
watched them emerge from the water, and then got to walk along a boardwalk,
watching them find their way back to their burrows.
Yesterday a
small group of us went on the Great Ocean Road. We stopped at Loch Ard Gorge,
London Bridge and the Twelve Apostles. We saw twelve koalas along the road,
which was pretty awesome.
The bus left
at 7:45am and we didn’t return until almost nine at night. I went straight to
bed, completely exhausted.
Loch Ard
Gorge had a horrible wreck back in the 1700-1800s, and the story goes that one
woman and one man survived and had to spend the night together in a cave. And
it was proper if you spent a night with a lady that you married her, but the
woman refused the man and she later died of depression because her whole family
died in the wreck.
London Bridge
collapsed in the 1990s and a woman and man were trapped on the other side. A
traveler saw them and went for help, but help couldn’t arrive until the next
morning. The woman and man had been waving frantically to get the traveler’s
attention but by the morning they were subdued. The reason being because they
were having an affair, a news helicopter rescued them and their affair was on worldwide
news.
The Twelve
Apostles were absolutely beautiful and it was so windy! It was well worth the
drive all the way out there.
